Information we collect

When you contact us. If you telephone, email or write to us, we collect the details you give us, such as your name, contact details and the nature of your enquiry.

When you become a client. We collect the information needed to act for you. This includes identification and verification documents that we are required by law to obtain, details of your matter, and billing information. Some matters involve sensitive personal information, which we use only where necessary to advise you or where the law requires or permits.

When you visit this website. With your consent, we use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used. It records information such as the pages you view, your approximate location, the type of device and browser you use, how you arrived at the site, and whether you select our telephone number or email address. It does not tell us your name. Our website host also keeps standard technical logs, including IP addresses, to keep the site secure.

Cookies

Analytics cookies are only set if you accept them in the banner shown when you first visit. You can decline, or change your choice at any time using the cookie settings link on this site. The site works fully without them.

How we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • respond to enquiries;

Some of our service providers are located outside Bermuda, including in the United States. Where information is transferred overseas, we remain responsible for it and take reasonable steps to ensure it receives a comparable level of protection.

How long we keep it

We keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purposes described above, or for as long as the law or our professional obligations require. It is then securely deleted or destroyed.

How we protect it

We use safeguards proportionate to the sensitivity of the information we hold, including access controls, secure systems and confidentiality obligations on our staff and service providers.

Your rights

Under PIPA you may ask us to:

  • give you access to the personal information we hold about you;
  • correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
  • stop using your information for a particular purpose; and
  • erase or destroy information that is no longer relevant to the purpose for which we hold it.

Please send your request in writing to our privacy officer. We will respond within 45 days. We may need to confirm your identity first, and in some cases the law allows or requires us to decline a request, in which case we will explain why.
